Major changes

Major improvements:

  • Usability with Microsoft® Windows® 8 is added. (32 and 64 bit, but not the "RT" version)
  • Usability with Microsoft® Windows® 98SE, Me, 2000, are removed.
  • There are two different OPC-478UCs:
    One has no marks on the label of the OPC-478UC. (previous)
    One has a "B" marked on the label. (See the illustration below.)


 

NOTE:
The previous OPC-478UC does not have any marks printed.

  • The previous (unmarked) OPC-478UC is usable with:
    Microsoft® Windows® 7 (32 and 64 bit)
    Microsoft® Windows Vista®
    Microsoft® Windows® XP.

    The previous (unmarked) OPC-478UC is NOT usable with:
    Microsoft® Windows® 8 (32 and64 bit, including the "RT" version)
    Microsoft® Windows® 95, 98, 98SE, Me, 2000, and NT.
    Neither cable is usable with Microsoft® Windows® 95, 98, 98Se, Me, 2000, nor NT.
  • Use the marked ("B") OPC-478UC when you are using Microsoft® Windows® 8 (32 and 64 bit, but not the "RT" version.)
  • Neither cable is usable with Windows® 8.1(32, 64 nor "RT" version.)

Installing the 1.4 version USB driver

  • Download the driver, extract the ZIP file, and then double click on the folder icon with your OS name displayed.
  • Read the installation guide in the folder for details, and for what is required by your system environment.

Caution

  • Use the 1.3 version USB driver with unmarked cables. The unmarked cable will not work correctly with 1.4 version USB driver for Microsoft® Windows® 8 (32 and 64 bit, but not the "RT" version).
  • Use the 1.4 version USB driver with a marked cable for Microsoft® Windows® 8 (32 and 64 bit, but not the "RT" version).
  • If you use the marked cable and the unmarked cable on the same PC, you must use the 1.3 version USB driver. Used together, those cables will not work correctly with the 1.4 version USB driver.
