ID-52A: Icom’s D-STAR Handheld is Now Shipping

     

KIRKLAND, Wash. (December 2021) – Icom’s newest handheld amateur radio is now shipping. The ID-52A is a VHF/UHF dual bander with D-STAR and FM dual mode functions. This radio supports conventional FM communications and D-STAR simplex, repeater, regional, and worldwide calls over the D-STAR internet gateway.

This handheld is much more than a replacement for the ID-51A; it is a new way of communicating, proving that Icom leads the way in the amateur industry. The ID-52A is the first handheld amateur radio with a full-color 2.3-inch waterfall display and the ability to send photos over D-STAR with a connected Android device.

This multifunction dual-band, D-STAR transceiver supports DR mode for easy access to local repeaters based on internal GPS information, as well as Terminal and Access Point modes. The ID-52A also has Bluetooth® for audio and data control, providing improved mobility and control.

Other features include 80% louder audio, a wideband receiver with a guaranteed range of 144- 148 and 440-450 MHz, V/V, U/U, V/U with Dual DV Mode, and an integrated GPS/GLONASS Receiver. Use Micro USB to charge, transfer data, and program.

The ID-52A gives you hours of fun and enjoyment working your favorite bands and is the perfect companion to the IC-705. Both use compatible batteries and headsets, and you can also use the same Android™ app for D-STAR operation.
