Icom's M94D Makes A Splash

KIRKLAND, Wash. (February 2021) –
Icom is hitting yet another milestone by creating the
world's first handheld AIS radio. By improving upon the best
features from the popular M93D,
we created the M94D with additional safety in mind.
For the first time, AIS is now available in a compact handheld marine radio. With an AIS
receiver and DSC function, receive information broadcast by other AIS-equipped vessels and
base stations. With the integrated AIS receiver, vessel traffic information is shown on the
display. The AIS target call function allows you to set up a DSC individual call easily. Distress
calls can be made quickly with the rear panel button.
The M94D didn’t just come with added AIS. Upgraded features now include 6W of RF power,
and class-leading 1500 mW of audio output with improved acoustic sound clarity, ensuring
clear communications, no matter the environment. Also gained on this handheld is more
battery power for extended operations (approx. 10 hours). You can also assign up to 50
favorite fishing spots or destinations as waypoints with the enhanced Navigation feature.
Other in-demand features included are Icom’s own Float’n Flash and AquaQuake™, keeping
your radio operational if it becomes submerged. The Man Overboard function is included for
operator protection. Pressing the distress button while Float’n Flash is activated will transmit
the MOB distress signal, allowing the operator to be more quickly and easily located.
Icom is known worldwide for manufacturing the most impressive marine radios – handheld or
fixed-mount. And in a world where technology is ever-evolving, Icom continues to stand the
test of time with leading-edge forward-thinking. Because of this, boaters the world over
choose Icom for their legendary durability, quality, dependability, and ease of use.
