Shinji Maeda
Shinji Maeda is a Hokkaido-born, vision-impaired aerospace and Icom enthusiast.
In May 2021, Shinji took off for his “Earthrounder Mission”
from Paine Field in Everett, Wash. and flew his1963 Beechcraft Bonanza
P35 around the globe. Stops on his journey depended on weather and the
COVID-19 virus spread, and he flew in 6–8-hour stints. He successfully
completed the flight in June 2021. Shinji touched down in 12 countries,
including the U.S., Canada, Iceland, Norway, France, Greece, Egypt,
United Arab Emirates, India, Thailand, the Philippines and Japan.
