Icom Exhibits New Land Mobile Radio Products for Public Safety Industry at APCO 2012
BELLEVUE, WA – Icom America, leading land mobile radio manufacturer, is attending the APCO
International 78th Annual Conference & Expo. The three-day event takes place from August 19-22 and will be held at Minnesota’s Minneapolis Convention Center with
meeting rooms located at the Hilton Minneapolis. Icom will showcase its premier line of land mobile radio products—including the new narrowband-compliant F3261
Series digital portable radio and a P25 repeater prototype—at Booth #319.
Icom will exhibit alongside 300+ companies occupying 70,000 net square feet of space. The company will demonstrate its wide range of land mobile radio products
such as the F3261 Series portable. Icom's new digital handheld joins the manufacturer's IDAS™ product line and surpasses the FCC's fast-approaching narrowbanding requirement at 6.25 kHz efficiency technology. The submersible portable has a built-in GPS (depending on version), 800mW loud audio output, and advanced emergency functions such as "man down" and "lone worker" options.
Earlier this year, Icom announced another waterproof portable, the F3031S Series,
which averages 17.5 hour operating time and emergency features. Both portable radios meet the physical demands of public safety users and first responders,
offering rugged construction with MIL-STD 810 military specifications.
Icom will also showcase a P25 repeater prototype that will join the company's current P25 interoperable equipment. Icom's finalized P25 repeater will achieve
100% duty cycle and operate in conventional digital/analog mixed mode with 500 channels. Icom’s current P25 radios include the "all-in-one" F9011 Series portable
and F9511 Series mobile, which each have built-in P25 conventional, P25 trunking and analog conventional.
"Icom looks forward to exhibiting new products at APCO 2012," says Icom America Vice President Chris Lougee. "We are committed to providing viable communication
options and end-to-end solutions for the public safety community."
As the public safety communication industry's largest show of the year, APCO has held the popular conference since 1934. Last year’s event drew approximately
2,800 public safety officials from law enforcement, campus police, consolidated dispatch centers, and other industry agencies. Over 60 conference sessions are
scheduled throughout the multi-day event, with some workshops offering Continuing Education Credit. Networking functions for this year's event include the 17th
Annual Golf Tournament, Attendee Mixer, Advanced Wireless and Social Media Event, and the Blue & White Gala. For APCO 2012 Conference registration and
programming, interested parties can visit the event site at www.apco2012.org.
