Icom America Celebrates Avionics Industry at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2012

BELLEVUE, WA – Icom America, industry leader of two-way radio communications, is attending the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2012 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Dubbed "The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration,&quyot; AirVenture takes place from July 23-29. Icom has participated in the annual event for over 30 years and will exhibit at Booth #2141. The radio manufacturer is offering two exclusive Oshkosh promotions for those who purchase Icom radios exclusively at the show.

"Icom has exhibited innovative radio solutions at AirVenture since 1981," says Icom America National Avionics Sales Manager David McLain. "We are excited to showcase our line of handheld, panel mount and ground based communications products at Oshkosh this year."

Icom is a Silver Level sponsor for the celebrated aviation event and is a repeat donor for the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) flight line operations. This year, Icom donated approximately 350 pieces of equipment to the organization, ranging from ground communication and panel mount air band transceivers to handheld radios and accessories. Icom’s F4011 Series portable and the IC-A6 VHF handheld radio are among the items provided. Icom also donated an A14 handheld prize for the EAA’s "Win the Cub" sweepstakes running now until August 15, 2012. Compact and rugged, the A14 radio averages 18 hours of operating time and 700mW loud audio for practical application in high-noise tarmac and cabin environments.

Alongside approximately 800 exhibitors sharing more than one million square feet of booth space, Icom will display avionics products including the versatile A24 handheld, a popular choice among pilots for its simple one-handed operation, optimized interface for nighttime use and VOR navigation functionality. AirVenture 2012 attendees who purchase the A24 handheld or any other Icom radio will also receive their choice of a free hat or emergency kit (while supplies last). Oshkosh patrons who buy an Icom A210 panel mount model at the show will receive a $100.00 mail-in rebate. Customers must submit proof of purchase at Icom’s Booth #2141 to be eligible for the exclusive promotions.

Presented by the EAA for 60 years, AirVenture comprises more than 4,000 volunteers. From corporate leaders to government officials to seasoned pilots and aviation enthusiasts, the weeklong summer event attracts over 500,000 participants representing more than 60 countries. Up to 10,000 aircrafts such as warbirds, vintage, homebuilt and ultralight planes fly into the event, deeming Oshkosh the busiest airport in the world for the week.

Each AirVenture day has a theme, from "Jet Day" to "Salute to Veterans." Marquee events include a Steve Miller Band concert on Monday and the "Night Air Show and Fireworks" on Saturday. Daily air shows, nightly "fly-in" movie presentations and family-friendly activities are scheduled throughout the venue and neighboring facilities. Approximately 1,000 forums, workshops and demonstrations will also take place. Attendees may obtain a free map and ride venue trams all week long.
