POSITION TITLE:   Systems Assembly Technician
JOB CLASSIFICATION:   Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO:   Systems Fulfillment Manager
LOCATION:   Kirkland, WA

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Works closely with the Systems Operations team to achieve Icom America Systems sales goals and production requirements. Supports the systems sales team, Icom dealers and direct accounts by assembling-manufacturing IAS products per sales orders. Organizes and compiles technical documentation, physically assembles and assists with the configuration of "Off the Shelf" and "Assembled "systems products for sale to both government agencies and Icom dealers. Works closely and effectively with IAS Systems Technologist and the Systems Fulfillment Manager. Reports directly to Systems Fulfillment Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assembles systems products per sales orders. Communicates status of all orders with Systems Fulfillment Manager on a daily basis and provides delivery of systems orders to the warehouse for shipment.

  2. Works closely with IAS staff members and Systems Fulfillment Manager to ensure all manufactured system sales orders are operational, tested and delivered per established procedure. Ensures accurate part numbers and descriptions.

  3. Communicates to the IAS team on a regular basis about product reliability, design, and equipment specification issues. Suggests improvements, modifications and design changes necessary to improve the performance of IAS products. Suggests alternative methodologies, procedures and practices to improve or enhance existing product delivery.

  4. Assembles and configures system products as necessary to achieve sales objectives. Diagnose technical performance issues as referred by customers, IAS sales or Systems Fulfillment Manager. Coordinates with Systems Fulfillment Manager and Systems Technologist as necessary.

  5. Provides regular input and recommendations to the Systems Fulfillment Manager and IAS with regards to inventory issues and product usage trending. Actively participates in monthly inventory consolidation and variance reconciliation.

  6. Processes incoming inventory, inspects for proper quantities and parts, labels with IAS barcode, and stocks in correct location.

  7. Maintains files of all shipped sales orders – includes serial numbers, frequencies and customer information for easy and quick access.

  8. Other duties and projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. EXPERIENCE – 2 years of demonstrated success as an Electronics Technician, Electronics Assembler, System Integrator, or equivalent experience. RF test equipment operation and familiarity with power supplies, hand tools, RF cabling, connectors, and associated System Infrastructure equipment.

  2. TECHNOLOGY – RF wireless technology, commercial and consumer products. Mobile voice and data communications, computer-controlled RF products. Two-way radios and base stations, repeaters. Basic antenna theory, fundamental AC-DC wiring and power supplies. ICOM product knowledge preferred.

  3. TEAM PLAYER – Ability to work in a fast-paced energetic team concept. Be able to adjust to various situations, maintaining and enhancing positive working relationships with colleagues and customers. Interacts effectively within the ICOM departmental infrastructure, contributing towards the achievement of our corporate objectives.

  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  5. Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

  6. Exceptional attention to detail and tenacious follow through are necessary.

  7. Requires initiative, assertiveness and ability to make decisions.

  8. FCC GROL, Amateur Radio License, or willingness to obtain one within 90 days of employment.

  9. Professional appearance and demeanor required.

  10. Occasional travel may be required to customer sites or trade shows, may include some weekend travel.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Two year technical college degree in electronics, military communications school or equivalent experience required.

  2. High school degree required.
