POSITION TITLE:   Accounting Specialist I

REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for accounts payable, cash application, daily banking, expense report processing & posting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounts Payable

  • Process & post AP inventory & non-inventory invoices for payment
  • Process & post employee expense reports
  • Prepare and process weekly AP check runs
  • Process vendor applications
  • Process W9 requests
  • Reconcile vendor statements
  • Prepare & post journal entries
  • File invoices, forms and reports
  • Process miscellaneous AP transactions
  • Process and post Brazil Invoices

Accounts Receivable

  • Process daily AR cash postings
  • Process adjustments from Credit
  • File invoices

Miscellaneous

  • COOP
  • Special Projects
  • Updating written procedures as changes occur
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a high volume A/P, A/R role. Demonstrated knowledge of commonly-used accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Position requires an accurate, detail-oriented individual.

  • • Strong aptitude to learn company operations and department functions. Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.

  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook required.

  • Excellent verbal communications skills, strong written communication skills, ability to follow through, resourceful and maintain accuracy. Ability to research, communicate and resolve (or provide solutions to resolve) customer issues and problems.

  • Able to set priorities and organize to meet deadlines under pressure in a multi-task environment, working overtime if necessary.

  • Requires strong teamwork skills and flexibility to change priorities based on coverage needs of the department workload.

  • • Able to investigate and resolve problems, reconcile accounts and monitor company policies and procedures.

  • • Analyze accounts, records and reports for accuracy and completeness. Accurately and efficiently file documents.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalency
