POSITION TITLE:   Jr. Sales Associate – Marine & Aviation
REPORTS TO:   Senior Manager – Marine & Aviation Sales Manager
LOCATION(S):   West Coast (WA & CA)


The Jr. Sales Associate position is an up and coming sales professional who will help support the National Sales Manager and sales rep firm’s business development efforts to achieve or exceed the sales goals for Icom America’s range of Marine, Avionics, Land Mobile and Network products on the West Coast (WA, CA). The Jr. Sales Associate invests in relationships on an ongoing basis to understand customer/account needs and finds innovative solutions to grow profitable sales. By providing a high level of technical and business proficiency, the Jr. Sales Associate cultivates relationships on the front lines of key accounts as well as helps with day to day internal duties and special projects. The ideal candidate has some experience with the marine and aviation industries, Icom products, strong customer service skills, and has a successful attitude.

The Jr. Sales Associate will respond to and support local customers, prospect assigned opportunities, support government bids and contracts, the combination of these efforts will differentiate Icom America from the competition and set the highest standards in the Marine and Aviation industries.


  • Maintain contracts and agreements with key accounts
    • Continuously review and improve the content of the contracts/agreements
    • Monitor Icom’s and the accounts’ performance to the contracts/agreements
  • Develop and maintain a close relationship with the key account personnel via:
    • Frequent phone calls, on-site/in-store visits, and attendance at industry events as appropriate for each account
    • Maintaining CRM for each account
  • Marketing
    • Support the marketing initiatives of the accounts
    • Identify and execute marketing activities to grow sales with the accounts
  • Inventory
    • Monitor inventory levels with the accounts
    • Monitor inventory levels within Icom
    • Propose purchase orders to accounts
    • Provide inputs to Icom purchasing
  • Monitor all incoming and outgoing orders
  • Training/sales presentations
    • Prepare and present sales training to sales staff of the key accounts
    • Presentation may be a combination of on-site, at shows, or on-line as appropriate
  • Participate in industry related trade shows as necessary to network and identify any sales opportunities
  • Work to improve doing business between key accounts and Icom is easy and trouble-free so the highest level of customer service is attained
  • Deliver all Icom reporting (regular forecasts and sales reports) on time, accurate and complete
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.


LEADERSHIP AND PEOPLE SKILLS – Ability to communicate your priorities, and plans to appropriate groups. Define strategic issues clearly and collaborate with others. Communicate internally to ensure "buy in" as necessary. Generate enthusiasm, create a sense of urgency for the mission.

COMPUTER SKILLS – Strong computer skills to analyze data and develop strategies. Knowledgeable and skilled in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe, and WebEx.

TECHNOLOGY – RF wireless technology, commercial and consumer products. Avionics and Marine market knowledge. Successful experience in developing, presenting, closing and implementing marketing opportunities and sales goals.

PERSONALITY – High-energy, strong work ethic, good sense of humor, positive outlook. Adaptable to changes, work well under pressure, enthused by challenges. Experience in the Aviation and Marine industry as a MR or retail sales. Winning personality and ability to develop rapport and relationships. Product training experience.


  1. Professional sales and/or marketing skills; excellent verbal and written communications skills; professional demeanor; presentation and public speaking abilities.
  2. Ability to focus on details, execute strategies, be flexible yet decisive, and build strong working relationships with peers and customers.
  3. Ability to travel 2-3 weeks per month when required. Travel will vary with occasional weekend travel.
  4. Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
